Housing Heroes: Meet Frank and Wendy Jamison

As longtime members of Winter Park Presbyterian Church, Frank and Wendy Jamison have supported the Meal Serve program at the Coalition for several years now. Once a month, members of the church – along with members of St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church – come to serve dinner at the Men’s Service Center. While a core group of volunteers from the congregation go to the Coalition to serve each month, Frank and Wendy help behind-the-scenes.
The night before the church group comes each month, the Jamisons drive to a local Panera restaurant to collect leftover baked goods to add to what gets delivered to the Coalition. “The car gets loaded with up to 20-30 pounds of baked goods and wow, does it smell good!” Frank laughs. Wendy goes to the church the next morning to deliver the bread and assist in wrapping baked goods.
After their personal experience with volunteering at the Coalition, they decided they wanted to give back in other ways. In 2011, Frank and Wendy became monthly donors. “We knew we wanted to help the community and help other people. When we give to the Coalition, we feel like we’re contributing to something – and not just financially. When you see a homeless person on the street, you can’t help but think how would I feel if I were in that situation? The Coalition helps people improve their situation and find opportunity.”
