Individuals wishing to volunteer must meet the following criteria:
- Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Children can volunteer when appropriate with a group. Please click here to see group opportunities.
- All potential volunteers must fill out a volunteer application and agree to a criminal background screening. Generally, individuals with a background that includes the sale or intent to sell drugs or any violent charge will be ineligible to volunteer. You can find both of the required forms here Law Enforcement Records Check and Volunteer Application.
- All new volunteers must attend volunteer orientation prior to beginning their volunteer service. This orientation is offered on a monthly basis.
We classify individual volunteers into two distinct groups:
- Community Service Volunteers. These are individuals who wish to volunteer in order to complete hours that have been mandated by either a court, school, or other entity. Opportunities for community service volunteers are limited and are accepted on a case by case basis. Generally, an individual needs to have at least an 8 week window from the time they begin the application process to the time they must have their hours completed. Please call us at 407-872-5784 or e-mail us at veveram@cflhomeless.org to see if we can work with you.
- Fundamental Volunteers. These are individuals who wish to volunteer for their own personal reasons with no institutional obligation. These individuals can apply for one of our open positions* as posted on this web site. For a list of the current volunteer openings, click here. If you see something that fits with your schedule and interests, please call us at 407-872-5784 or e-mail us at veveram@cflhomeless.org so that we can get you a volunteer application. *These opportunities are updated regularly, so please check back if you do not see anything that fits for you right now.
