Are you currently in need of shelter? The Coalition provides shelter to individuals and families on two campuses in downtown Orlando. Read below to learn more about our various residential programs, read program requirements, and obtain directions and contact numbers.

Center for Women and Families
The Center for Women and Families can house up to 240 individuals, including intact families, single parents, and single women. Case managers design self-sufficiency plans for each resident and family, which include education, employment, counseling, life skills training, budgeting, and a savings account.

Program information and requirements:

  • Emergency shelter
  • Cost per night: $2.00 minimum
  • Call Intake for availability at number listed above
  • ID requested: government-issued photo ID and social security card
  • Available to single women, single women with children, single men with children, and intact families. Children (males and females) served up to the age of 18 years old.
  • Case-managed services include: education, employment, counseling, life skills training, child development, and daycare.
  • Meals: breakfast and dinner served daily.
  • Drop-in showers offered to the community from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m Monday
    through Friday.
  • VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) program is offered to individuals and children who are victims of crime. VOCA support groups meet each Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and are open to adults in the community. Please call ahead for approval.

Men’s Pavilion
The Men’s Pavilion is a traditional drop-in shelter that can house up to 375 men. It is the largest emergency drop-in shelter for homeless men in Central Florida.

Program information and requirements:

  • Emergency shelter
  • Cost per night: $1.00
  • Registration time: 8:30 p.m.
  • ID preferred for entrance
  • Available to males over the age of 18
  • Length of stay: no set length of stay
  • Services: shower and laundry facilities, lockers available for rent, information about Veteran’s Services
  • Meals: dinner at 7:00 p.m. is open to the community

First Steps Shelter Recovery Program for Men
The Men’s Pavilion is home to First Steps Shelter Recovery Program for Men, a substance abuse program created by the Coalition. This unique substance abuse program challenges up to 36 men to recover from their addictions while living at the Coalition. Men involved in the First Steps Shelter Recovery Program work one-on-one with a case manager to create a plan for self-sufficiency.

Program information and requirements:

  • Substance abuse recovery program
  • Residents in this program do not pay program fees for an initial period; after this period, clients will be responsible for program fees
  • Requirements include: a desire to live a clean and sober life, recent history of substance abuse, must pass a urinalysis, currently homeless/facing homelessness, and compliance with a Resident Agreement and Code of Conduct
  • ID requested: government-issued photo ID and social security card
  • Available to males over the age of 18
  • Length of stay: four months minimum
  • Case-managed services include: education, employment, addiction education groups, and life skills training
  • Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner served daily

First Steps Shelter Recovery Program for Women
The Center for Women and Families is home to First Steps Shelter Recovery Program for Women, a substance abuse program created by the Coalition. Modeled after the Coalition's First Steps Shelter Recovery Program for Men, this initiative challenges up to 10 women to recover from their addictions while living at the Coalition. Clients participating in the First Steps Shelter Recovery Program for Women work one-on-one with a case manager to create a plan for self-sufficiency.

Program information and requirements:

  • Substance abuse recovery program
  • Residents in this program do not pay program fees for an initial period; after this period, clients will be responsible for program fees
  • Requirements include: a desire to lead a clean and sober life, recent history of substance abuse, and currently homeless/facing homelessness
  • ID requested: government-issued photo ID and social security card
  • Available to females over the age of 18; no children allowed
  • Length of stay: four months
  • Case-managed services include: education, employment, counseling, and life skills training
  • Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner served daily

First Steps Transitional Housing Program
A six to eight month program, First Steps Transitional Housing Program is provided in the Coalition's nine on-site transitional apartments for up to 32 men, all of whom have successfully completed the First Steps Shelter Recovery Program or a similar program and are recovering from their addictions. A case manager will continue to assist clients in building the resiliency and self-sufficiency traits necessary for reintegration into the community.

Program information and requirements:

  • Transitional substance abuse recovery program
  • Residents in this program must hold verifiable employment and pay monthly program fees
  • Requirements include: must be drug/alcohol free, must have completed the First Steps Program or be referred from a similar recovery program, and must be willing to participate in a savings plan
  • ID requested: government-issued photo ID and social security card
  • Available to males over the age of 18
  • Length of stay: six to eight months
  • Case-managed services include: education, employment, addiction education groups, and life skills training

Women’s Residential and Counseling Center (WRCC):

As a program of the Coalition, WRCC is a transitional housing facility for women and children. The facility can house up to 138 individuals and includes 12 emergency beds for crisis situations. Clients who live at WRCC work with an individual case manager and have access to the main campus resources and services.

Program information and requirements:

  • Residents are required to have an income to participate in this transitional housing program
  • Available to single women and single women with children (boys under age of 11 years old)
  • 12 emergency beds (limited stay)
  • Length of stay: 12 month transitional program
  • Cost per week (no children): $60.00
  • Cost per week (family up to four children): $70.00
  • Call Intake for availability at number listed above
  • ID requested: government-issued photo ID and social security card
  • Case-managed services include: education, employment, child development, daycare, and VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) program. VOCA is offered to individuals and children who are victims of crime.

  • Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner served daily
