COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS CELEBRATES THANKSGIVING

(Men, women, and children living at the Coalition enjoy Thanksgiving breakfast, thanks to volunteers with the Orlando Magic.)
WHAT: Orlando Magic staff and volunteers will serve Thanksgiving breakfast to more than 600 homeless men, women and children at Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida.

This annual tradition includes an open breakfast for Coalition residents and any members of the community who don’t have the means to celebrate Thanksgiving. The Magic will also host a special carnival for children, immediately following breakfast, at the Coalition’s main campus. Festivities include guest appearances by Stuff the Magic mascot, Magic Dancers and music by 102JAMZ. The adults are treated to haircuts by Paul Mitchell and calls to loved ones by MetroPCS Wireless.

6:30 a.m. - Meal preparation and set up begins
8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. - Orlando Magic Head Coach & staff serve Thanksgiving breakfast
9 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. - Carnival

Coalition for the Homeless is the largest provider of homeless services in Central Florida. This non-profit organization works to address the needs of the homeless in the community and serves as a catalyst for community collaboration to end homelessness by offering comprehensive case management programs to help the homeless become self-sufficient. In the most recent fiscal year, the Coalition served more than 310,000 meals and provided over 227,000 nights of shelter to homeless individuals.
