GOLF CHALLENGE RAISES OVER $88,000 FOR HOMELESS

ORLANDO, Fla. — (June 10, 2009)—Twenty-four golfers played for all they were worth on Monday, June 8th at the Doug Spencer 13th Annual Golf Challenge, raising over $88,265 to benefit Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The event took place at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Winter Garden. Golfers challenged each other for the most holes played in six hours and the most money collected for the Coalition. They raised a minimum of $1,500 each, with their donors pledging either a flat amount or on a per-hole basis.

Top fundraiser was event namesake Doug Spencer, President of Spencer Consulting Services. Spencer - a former Coalition for the Homeless Board Chairman and current Coalition Advisory Board Co-Chairman - single-handedly raised $17,770 for his 125-hole afternoon. Other major fundraisers include John Martin, SI Goldman Company President/CEO; Jack Kuykendall, Kuykendall Gardner Insurance Vice President, and Brian King, Special Projects Division Manager with SI Goldman Company. Brian and his brother, Tony King, Vice President of Zerion Group, topped the charts with 133 holes completed within the allotted time.

The Coalition for the Homeless is grateful to Golf Challenge presenting sponsor, Hilton Grand Vacations, and event chairman Brian King, as well as the golfers, supporters, and prize donors for their commitment to supporting its case-managed programs and services which provide homeless men, women, children and families in Central Florida the tools to return to self-sufficiency.
