NINTH ANNUAL GOLF CHALLENGE A SWINGING SUCCESS FOR THE COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS
Orlando, Fla. — (April 22, 2005) — The Coalition for the Homeless’ Ninth Annual Golf Challenge was a huge success, netting over $105,000.00, with all proceeds benefiting the thousands of men, women, and children served by the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida each year. Sponsored by Centex Homes, the event was held Monday, April 18 at the Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando Florida. The event began at noon and challenged the participants to play as many holes as possible in six hours. Immediately afterward, participants enjoyed a dinner and award ceremony, sponsored by Universal Studios.
Brad Brewer, Golf Channel featured instructor and founder of the Brad Brewer Golf Academy, served as the honorary chairman for the event. Players had their golf swing analyzed by Brewer on the fifth hole, using interactive computerized swing analysis. “Beat the Pro” was another favorite among players as golfers attempted to out swing Golf Pro David Smiley’s long drive.
“It was great to see a mix of returning golfers and new faces at this year’s Golf Challenge,” said Doug Spencer, Coalition for the Homeless Board Chairman, who individually raised $14,000 for the event. “Participants get to play golf, have fun and contribute to a worthy cause; everyone’s a winner.” Golf Challenge participants also chose from an incredible array of incentive prizes, including golf club sets and vacation packages, based on their individual play results. |
