11th Annual Golf Challenge Raises $145,000

ORLANDO, Fla. — (April 20, 2007) —Thanks to event sponsors Colonial Properties, Greenberg Traurig Law Offices, MSCW Inc.; media sponsors WKMG Channel 6 and Smooth Jazz 103.1 WLOQ; over 18 hole sponsors; and 35 golfers whose friends and associates donated to their cause, Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, Inc. raised nearly $145,000 in its 11th Annual Golf Challenge at Shingle Creek Golf Club on Friday, April 20th.

The golfers played for all they were worth for six hours, challenging each other to the most holes played and the most money raised for the Coalition for the Homeless. Donors pledged their support to the golfers on a per-hole basis.

By day’s end, Golf Channel Instructor Brad Brewer had topped the charts with 105 holes completed within the allotted time. Top fundraiser for the event was OUC Vice President of Customer Connections and Coalition for the Homeless Board member Doug Spencer, who single-handedly raised $25,240 for his 98-hole afternoon.

The Coalition for the Homeless is grateful to Golf Challenge Chairman and Coalition Board member John Alvarez, as well as the golfers, donors, and sponsors for their commitment to supporting its case-managed programs and services which provide homeless men, women, children and families in Central Florida the tools to return to self-sufficiency.
