10th ANNUAL GOLF CHALLENGE PROVIDES A HOLE-IN-ONE FOR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES AT COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS

ORLANDO, Fla. — (April 3, 2006) — Have you ever played 94 holes of golf in one day? Call it a golfer’s dream. Coalition for the Homeless’ 10th Annual Golf Challenge was a huge success, netting over $108,000, with all proceeds benefiting the thousands of men, women, and children served by the Coalition each year. The winner of the challenge, chairman Brad Brewer, completed 94 holes of golf in six hours!

Golf Challenge teed off Monday, April 3 at Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando. The event began at noon and challenged the participants to play as many holes as possible in six hours. The theme, Building Hope for the Homeless, included a trio of sponsors from the building community: Centex Homes, KB Homes, and David Weekley. Immediately afterward, participants enjoyed a dinner and awards ceremony, sponsored by Universal Studios.

Brad Brewer, Golf Channel featured instructor and founder of the Brad Brewer Golf Academy, served as the chairman for the event. Players had a chance to win prizes in several beat the pro holes throughout the course.

“It was great to see a mix of returning golfers and new faces at this year’s Golf Challenge,” said Doug Spencer, co-chair of the event, who individually raised more than $15,000 for the Coalition. “Participants get to play golf, have fun and contribute to a worthy cause; everyone’s a winner.”

Golf Challenge participants also chose from an incredible array of incentive prizes, including golf club sets and vacation packages, based on their individual play results. John Alvarez, co-chair for Golf Challenge this year, will serve a chair of the event in 2007.
